Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes

A pancake is not just a cake! It is also known as hot-cakes, griddlecake or flapjack; pancakes is a flatcake, usually thin & round. It is prepared from a starch-based batter that commonly contain eggs, milk, butter and leavening. Usually cooked on a hot surface (on a griddle or frying pan). The addition of buttermilk gives pancakes the extra flavour with added fluffiness that you cannot get with using milk.
 
We will be sharing a simple yet yummy recipe with you using Le 5 Stagioni Classica Flour, serve with fruits that you fancy. In this recipe, we will be using Strawberries & Blueberries with a drizzle of maple syrup.
 
This recipe yields some extras. Have no idea what to do with them? Freeze them for a quick breakfast. You just need to heat’em up in the  microwave for 10 to 15 seconds.

Ingredients

    • 1 cup of Le 5 Stagioni Classica Flour
    • 1 quarter cup of sugar
    • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
    • Half a teaspoon of baking soda
    • Quarter teaspoon of salt
    • 3 quarter of buttermilk Keep the last quarter extra incase you need it later on.
    • 1 quarter of unsalted butter (melted)
    • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
    • 1 Nos large egg (approximately 55g)

DIRECTIONs

1. Sift in flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and soda in a large mixing bowl. Mix evenly with a whisk

2. Make a well in the middle of the flour mixture and pour in buttermilk, melted butter, vanilla and egg.

3. Mix thoroughly until no dry flour pockets are visible with a whisk. Do not worry if you saw abit of lumps.

4. Add more buttermilk bit by bit if the consistency looks too dry. Continue until the thick pourable consistency is obtained.

5. Rest the batter for 10 minutes.

6. Clean and heat up the non stick pan. Oil the pan and wipe off the access.

7. Lower the heat to medium low, scoop the batter with 2oz laddle and pour the remaining into the pan.

8. Flip over the pancake once the bubbles are formed.

9. Repeat with the rest of the batter. 

10. Stack them up and serve them with your favorite toppings such as a dollop of cream, some butter, maple syrup and fruits of your choice.

Cooking Tips

  • When you flip the pancakes, the sides should look dry with golden brown tone on the underside of the pancake.
  • These pancakes can be made ahead of time and freeze up to 2 weeks.
